Exploring Canada's Maritime Provinces

Prince Edward Island

After finding out that our would-be ferry from Cape Breton Island to Prince Edward Island was out of service due to a broken mechanical part, we ventured off on our 441-kilometer (275-mile) drive from Whycocomagh, Nova Scotia to North Rustico, Prince Edward Island. We rewarded our long drive with a fulfilling seafood dinner at the On The Dock Eatery. We all had a refreshing strawberry lemonade, and my main meal was a lobster roll with fries and sour cream.

Fun fact: While the Nova Scotia to Prince Edward Island ferry operated a few days later (later in our trip), the very same mechanical part broke less than 48 hours after the ferry was reinstated to operate.

After a great night of rest at our purple cottage, we set out for our main day adventure on Prince Edward Island. Our itinerary included touring Anne of Green Gables properties and touring Charlottetown. I also took a bike ride along the Atlantic Ocean!
