About Me

Trip Reflections

When my parents and I would travel around the country, I liked to have a way to remember the vacation. This started in Spring 2010 when we drove to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and back; I made a family scrapbook.

This continued for several trips, including exploring New England (scrapbook), Las Vegas, Arizona, and Utah National Parks (photo album), Canada (blog report), and Spain and Portugal (photo book), just to name some.

Personal Narrative

Three years ago, many of my friends were beginning to drive. I had my field of vision test on March 6, 2017, and my opthalmologist said, "Dylan, due to (lack of) peripheral vision, you are not able to drive."

While this was tough to swallow, I woke up the next morning with a different mindset. What can I do, rather than complain about this, as far as getting around?, I thought. That inspired me to use Metro Transit around the Twin Cities. And, despite this setback, I continued to use Metro Transit, and rely on friends, to get around the following months.

Yes, I still think about not driving at times. However, I see my bike as my vehicle and have fallen in love with it - from distant leisurely rides to going shopping around town.
